In a field where agency protocols and medications evolve continuously, OmniMedix stands out as the sole calculator based on infusion rates rather than specific medications. This adaptability allows its application across diverse clinical settings, including EMS, Emergency Department, ICU, medical offices, and veterinary medicine.
Supplementary features include conversions for weight and temperature, pediatric calculations, medication bolus determinations, and the Parkland Burn Formula for fluid resuscitation.
While hospital units typically rely on IV pumps for drip rate management, many EMS crews lack this technology. OmniMedix fills this critical gap by providing a reliable tool for manual drip rate calculations or as a backup in case of pump failure, highlighting its importance in emergency situations where accurate dosing is paramount.
Intended for both regular and infrequent users of drip rate calculations, OmniMedix offers straightforward guidance: choose the concentration type (mcg/min, mcg/kg/min), input patient weight, desired dose, medication concentration, and drip set details to obtain flow rate values in drops per minute, drops per second, and a unique "seconds per drop" metric for slower rates.
